After nearly two years of collaboration with Country Messenger Press on my young adult novel 4th and Forever, the process has collapsed. The publisher and I did not see eye-to-eye during the contract negotiation phase due to my concerns with royalties, marketing and distribution. So back to square one.
There are a couple of happy notes for 2010 however:
My short story "The Not-So-Merry-Go-Round" has been purchased by Open Heart Publishing and appears in the current anthology An Honest Lie, Volume 2: Delusions of Insignificance. See my author interview athttp://debrincase.com/blog4/category/author-interviews/page/2/and be the first to purchase the book at http://debrincase.com/ahlvol2/dennis-thompson (be sure to click on my name in the list to the left of the purchasing portal so I can get votes toward a publishing contract! Thanks!) The sequel to "The Not-So-Merry-Go-Round" has been accepted by Pandora's Imagination. "Attack of the Peripherals" currently appears in the anthology entitled Under A Harvest Moon. It can be purchased at https://www.createspace.com/3491966 Crimespree Magazine has accepted my story "A Rottweiler for Christmas".
All magazine and anthology efforts should be out by December, 2010. I am back to the hunt for a publisher of my novel. I hope to be putting out an e-book compilation of poems and short stories, a non-fiction coaching manual, and a full-length screenplay this year.
I am actively seeking an agent at the moment. I'm happy to report that as of late 2010, a number of agents have requested my query for 4th and Forever.
My blog, Terminal Verbosity: A Journey from Acceptance to Publication, is coming soon.
